The collection consists of approximately twenty-five feet of documents, radio program cassette tapes, and several thousand photos of longtime local Spanish language radio personality, Victor Lara Ortegon. Ortegon utilized his radio show "Comentarios" to inform the public about political issues, elected officials, and most importantly the value of education.

Abstract

Walter Elmer Pope was a Corpus Christi attorney, real estate developer, civic leader, and state representative from South Texas. The collection includes 70 linear feet of papers from Pope’s legal practice and business office, as well as his correspondence as a state legislator. The majority of the documents were created between 1850-1944; a few biographical items circa 1960s-1980s are included.

Content Description The Walsh Family and Crozier Family Collection of Art and Letters by Geneva Flores Hart Fell includes drawings, pastels, collected prints, a family baby book, correspondence and a half-finished canvas of a portrait of an elderly man. Many of the pastels are intricate works of the interior of cathedrals and churches. Ms. Fell was a family relative of the Walsh Family. Abstract Ward Island is a small body of land between Corpus Christi Bay and Oso Bay and is part of the city of Corpus Christi. Ward Island was named for developer John C. Ward who bought the property in 1892 to create a resort community. An economic depression prevented Ward from his quest, but the island retained his name.
