The papers include nine scrapbooks concentrating on politics, elections, law enforcement, and crime in Corpus Christi and South Texas during the mid-1900s. Other materials include photographs and campaign memorabilia.

Arrangement

This small collection is arranged into eight folders and two boxes, all of which with two exceptions contain newspaper clippings.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was donated by Johnnie Mitchell’s widow and their son, Dick Mitchell, who was a student at TAMUCC and did research in the Special Collections and Archives Department. The materials were received by Grace Charles and Alva Neer in 1996. Dr. Thomas Kreneck assisted with the donation.
