These two boxes of correspondence include letters between Robert J. Kleberg and Alice B. King dating to the 1880s; letters between Richard M. Kleberg and Mamie Searcy, dating 1910s; and other assorted Kleberg, King, and Searcy correspondence, postcards, and envelopes. Robert J. Kleberg (1853-1932) married Alice King in 1886. Alice King was the daughter of Richard and Henrietta King, prominent ranchers in the South Texas region and founders of what ultimately became the King ranch. Richard M. Kleberg (1887-1955) was the son of Robert and Alice King Kleberg, and he married Mamie Searcy. Richard Kleberg became Congressman from this area and continued his family's ranching and business interests.
