Alphabetical correspondence includes letters received, carbon copies of letters sent, telegrams, and memoranda, filed by correspondent. Many letters contain enclosures such as clippings, copies of letters, and other related documents. Notable correspondents include: Lloyd Bentsen Jr., Dolph Briscoe, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, John Connally, James de Anda, Frances Farenthold, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Hubert Humphrey, J. Edgar Hoover, Lyndon B. Johnson, Edward Kennedy, John F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), National Advisory Council on Economic Opportunity, Richard M. Nixon, David North, Political Association of Spanish-Speaking Organizations (PASO), Dr. George I. Sanchez, Vicente Ximenes, Ralph Yarborough, and John Young. Files and records that are about specific people can be found in Series VIII: Reference and Research Files, Sub-Series A: People Files, and may include some overlap with this sub-series.
