 File — Box: 198, Folder: 25
From the Sub-Series:

Discrimination cases related to the employment of individual Latinos at a variety of businesses and agencies are documented in this sub-series. These cases were brought to Dr. Garcia’s attention by his colleagues and by the afflicted individuals from Texas and other states in an effort to keep him informed, solicit his opinions, or request his direct intervention. The discrimination cases are based on claims of unequal wages, passed-over promotions, unfounded firings, verbal or physical brutality at the hands of supervisors, or rules forbidding employees from speaking Spanish while on duty. This sub-series also includes reports, newsletters, legislation, and press releases concerning minority employment and the appointment of Latinos to federal positions. A number of folders contain records concerning the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Memorial Medical Center, post offices in a number of cities, the United States Air Force (USAF), the Army Aeronautical Depot Maintenance Center (ARADMAC), and the Naval Air Station (NAS) at Chase Field.
