She dedicated her life to the arts, and this collection contains the manuscript for Art and Industry in American Life, a book she wrote for primary school aged children explaining art in American life before it was mass produced.

Gabe Lozano was a business man and politician that spent his life working to improve Corpus Christi. He was active in a large spectrum of activities in the area and was the first Hispanic American Mayor of Corpus Christi. Son of pioneering local legend Vincente Lozano, Gabe was a pioneer himself; persistently pushing for causes he felt strongly about and helping transform Corpus Christi into the city it is today.

Murphy Givens South Texas Historical Papers

Abstract

Murphy Givens was a newspaper journalist who had worked in Alabama, Missouri, and Michigan when he came to Corpus Christi in 1981 to work for the “Corpus Christi Caller Times.” He began writing a weekly column on South Texas History in 1998. He worked as the Viewpoints Editor until 2009 and continued writing history columns until 2018. Givens published 18 books on Texas history and presented on KEDT recounting stories from his history columns.
