Rodney James Mirabal Papers
This collection contains the personal records and photographs of Rodney James Mirabal. Rodney is the grandson of Dora Cervera Mirabal and Rodolfo Zepeda Mirabal, who were writers, publishers, and active members of the Hispanic community in Corpus Christi. Two family publications are also included in this collection.

Biographical / Historical
Rodney James Mirabal was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to parents Santos Rodriguez and Rudolph Cervera Mirabal Jr. at Spohn Hospital. Rodney is the grandson of Dora Cervera Mirabal and Rodolfo Zepeda Mirabal, two leading members of Corpus Christi’s Hispanic community. Rodney attended the following schools: Incarnate Word Elementary, Menger Elementary, Frazier Elementary, Hamlin Jr. High School, and W. B. Ray High School, where he earned his diploma. Rodney was active in the LULAC/ASPIRA Public Policy Leadership program and was selected as a 1985-1986 delegate to the Sister City Program with Yokosuka, Japan. Rodney also earned certification from the American Legion Boys State, which educates high school students about government and citizenship. He was also awarded a Certificate of Citation from the State of Texas House of Representatives. Rodney served in the United States Air force and Air Force Reserves from 1987-1994 and pursued higher education that cumulated in a master’s degree after completing his service in the Armed Forces. Rodney plans to retire from Southwest Airlines as a SWA Operations Station Trainer. He has two daughters, Kimiko Monique and Kassandra Nichole, both of whom graduated from the University of Boulder. He has two grandchildren, Brenner and Rory. Rodney is a member of the Knights of Columbus and continues his family’s legacy of philanthropy through volunteer service to veterans and local communities.

This collection has been divided into categories by type of material (certificates, correspondence, photographs, etc.) and is housed in a single half document box. The biographical and personal records will be restricted until 2075.
