These papers include personal papers of William M. Neyland, longtime Corpus Christi real estate man, including his work building streets and highways in Corpus Christi and across South Texas. Mr. Neyland died in 1979. His office was at 109 Chaparral was in business with his son William T.Neyland.

Abstract
William M. Neyland was a Real Estate business man from Corpus Christi who was active improving the infrastructure and highway system in Corpus Christi and South Texas
Biographical / Historical
William M. Neyland was born in 1916 in Goliad, Texas. He moved to Corpus Christi in 1922 and entered into the Real Estate business. Neyland was instrumental in the highway construction and in Corpus Christi and the surrounding South Texas area. He was Instrumental in securing State Highway 9 from Corpus Christi to San Antonio in 1934 as well as Texas State Highway 35 from Corpus Christi to Port Lavaca in 1935. He played a pivital role in several South Texas Roads including State Highways 77, 173, 624, 44, 119, as well as the first 4-lane highways in the state that runs through Robstown. Neyland owned and operated Neyland Realty Company with his son.
Neyland was an active member in the community. He served in the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce and the Corpus Christi Rotary Club. He was manager of the highway department in the Corpus Chamber of Commerce and director of Portland State Bank. An active member of Texas Good Roads Association, Salvation Army Advisory Board, and Corpus Christi Presbyterian Church, he passed away August 14th, 1985.
