Charles Edward Sedtal Collection of English Sheepskin Indenture Documents
This collection largely consists of English indenture contracts. It also has pages removed from books, newspapers, stock certificates, an illuminated antiphonal, and a Spanish pre-Texas Revolution document about land from 1835. It has documents from 1479 to 2001.

Large collection of English indenture contracts collected throughout life by Charles Edward Sedtal.
Biographical / Historical
Charles Edward Sedtal was born in Beaumont, Texas on April 29, 1946. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served in Vietnam as a radar tech. Later, Sedtal was Fire Chief for the Valero Refinery where he instructed other firefighters. He also taught a firefighting class at Texas A&M University – College Station. Through his life he collected historical documents, mostly involving English indenture contracts. He passed away in 2021 at the age of 75.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
This collection was donated to Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi in 2021 by Charles Edward Sedtal’s wife, Robbi Sedtal after he passed away. Director Lori Atkins assisted with the donation.
