Abstract
Collection of original surveying papers made by Hayes and John Dix of South Texas Counties.
Biographical / Historical
When Hayes Dix Sr was born on January 5, 1868, in Corpus Christi, Nueces, Texas, United States, his father, Captain John James Dix, was 41 and his mother, Cynthia Jemimah McNeill, was 27. He married Sixta Guerra Morin on 26 June 1893, in Duval, Texas, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 4 daughters. Dix spent his time traveling around South Texas counties and surveying them. He lived in Duval, Texas, United States in 1900 and Justice Precinct 1, Duval, Texas, United States for about 20 years. He died on 21 February 1945, in San Diego, Texas, at the age of 77. He was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Corpus Christi, Texas.

This collection is arranged into fifteen series in alphabetical order by county.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
This collection was found in a box at the Conrad Blucher Institute addressed to Mr. Richard Phelps. It was found by Dr. Gary Jeffress in his office. The donation was made April 11, 1996 and was assisted by Dr. Thomas Kreneck.
