Series IX: Photographic Materials, 1926 - 1998
Black and white and color prints, negatives, slides, and contact sheets of various sizes can be found in this series. Images on these formats depict Dr. Hector P. Garcia engaged in various personal, professional, activism, and political activities, and are mostly from his adult life. Further information on topics covered in these images—Dr. Garcia’s awards and honors, the Garcia family, Dr. Garcia’s military service in World War II, the American GI Forum (AGIF), Dr. Garcia’s relationships with notable local and national figures, veterans’ funerals, protests against injustices towards Latinos, the US Commission on Civil Rights, the United Nations—can be found in nearly every other series in this collection.
