Sub-Series B: Education Discrimination, 1930 - 1995

The majority of this sub-series consists of files on specific school discrimination cases, most notably the Jose Cisneros case against the Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) in which Dr. Garcia was deeply involved and invested. Dr. Garcia’s original research, writings and presentations on education at federal hearings, in court, and at school board meetings are also heavily represented in this sub-series. Other notable subjects include bilingual education, integration initiatives such as busing, school transfers, court-mandated planning, the Emergency School Assistance Program, and the composition of school boards.
