Bezdek, Bob, Dr.

Two boxes of records from the now defunct Corpus Christi Community Progress Partnership project of 1997-2000 were donated by the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce with the help of Professor Bob Bezdeck in 2002. It had been a major effort to get bond items passed and reenergize the city, unfortunately it failed it its objectives.

Mayor Luther Jones served eight years as mayor, ending in 1987, he also once served as commander of the Corpus Christi Army Depot. During his tenure as mayor, Corpus Christi acquired Naval Station Ingleside and the Texas State Aquarium, a new city hall and a new central library were built. Included in the collection are documents relating to the establishment of a four-year university in Corpus Christi, awards, plaques, campaign records, photos and correspondence.
