Biographical / Historical
The Corpus Christi Coffee Club was founded in 1991 by Ray Madrigal, owner of Ray's Photography. Madrigal and Justice of the Peace Armando Diaz Flores were the two members in attendance at its first meeting, which featured as guest speaker the then-mayor, Betty Turner.
The purpose of the club was to inform the Mexican American people on local political issues and the background of candidates for office. Its mission statement was "Providing information and educating the community on current issues and services available to the community."
The club's meetings were videotaped and televised at Univision Cable TV.
